UPR Pre-session

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique mechanism of the Human Rights Council which aims at improving the human rights situation on the ground of each of the 193 United Nations Member States.

In 2014, during its second cycle, the State of Eritrea  “noted” 107 recommendations out of 199 recommendations received (click here to consult all the recommendations).

On December 13, 2018, UPR Info held a pre-session on Eritrea. And although the State’s attendance is indispensable in each step of the process, the pre-session was held in the absence of the Eritrean delegation.

            

Information Forum for Eritrea, Release Eritrea, the Eritrean Law Society and the Eritrean Lowlanders League presented their assessment on the situation of human rights in Eritrea.

In view of the UPR session in January, the State of Eritrea submitted this following report.
